H-gate supplies the parts that keep the pulse-tube and Gifford-McMahon coolers on this site in specification: adsorbers, helium lines, seal kits, and the tools used to charge pure helium.
01
The helium loop needs an adsorber so oil vapor and other contaminants stay out of the cold head. Replacement adsorbers ship as a kit with the fittings needed to change them. Both pulse-tube and Gifford-McMahon compressor packages use this service.
02
Stainless lines carry high-pressure helium to the cold head and bring the low-pressure return back to the compressor. Standard lengths:
90° male-to-female adapters in 1/4 in, 1/2 in, and 3/4 in Aeroquip sizes, so a line can turn without a long sweep.
Male-to-male unions in 1/2 in and 3/4 in join two flex lines. Male-to-female unions are also available.
A stainless flange lets an Aeroquip fitting pass a wall or a shielded-room boundary, the way a union does, but bolted in place.
03
The cold-head seals on a Gifford-McMahon cooler are replaced on a schedule. A kit contains the parts for that job, and the work is done at the installed site.
04
Static helium pressure is adjusted from time to time. Gas added to the loop must be 99.999% pure. Contamination is a common reason a cold head fails early. The helium cylinder itself is supplied by the laboratory.
A manifold, charging lines, service Aeroquip couplings, a helium regulator, and a vacuum pump with a gauge. Use it to evacuate a part and then refill it without opening the loop to air.
Adds or removes a small amount of helium at the compressor service port. It has a pressure gauge and a purge port so the charge line is cleared before helium enters the package.
Used with the manifold and charging lines when a cold head or compressor must be vented, evacuated, and recharged.
05
A flexible metal bellows sits between the cold head and the cryostat on both Gifford-McMahon and pulse-tube coolers, so cold-head motion is not passed straight into the experiment.
For pulse tubes only. The sleeve decouples the cryostat from the pulse tube itself when the experiment needs still less motion.
Standard on the remote motor line. Optional on the compressor gas ports and on the cold-head pressure ports. They cut conducted noise from the compressor or motor, and they reduce interference picked up on the helium lines and motor cord.
An external supply for the cold-head motor when the stepper drive in the compressor is too noisy for the measurement. It also smooths the motor rotation, which lowers mechanical vibration.
06
Fits both cooler types. The sleeve stays on the cryostat, so the cold head can be baked for ultra-high vacuum or removed for service without taking the cryostat apart. A low-vibration version is available.
Carry power from the compressor to the cold-head motor or a remote motor. A damaged cable is replaced, not repaired. Lengths are made to the run.
Each system ships with the wrenches and small spares needed to make the connections. Extra kits are available to match the model ordered.
Model capacities are on the Gifford-McMahon and cryocoolers pages. Custom flanges and feedthroughs are listed with the Gifford-McMahon options.
