Helium recovery for one NMR
The unit is sized to one NMR magnet. Boil-off travels the vapor return into the reliquefier, becomes liquid at once, and goes back into the bath. The loop is closed, so the bath is not topped up by transfer. Vibration isolation is arranged so it does not disturb the spectrum. The layout follows the HeRL02-RM and has been run on magnets of different field with the spectra left intact. It suits a small lab with several magnets, or magnets that are not in the same room.
Low power, single-phase mains
The cold head is a PT404-RM, the 4 K form of the PT205, with a CP103 compressor. That pair runs on single-phase power, so a lab does not need a three-phase supply to keep one magnet’s helium in the bath.
Helium handled at the fill port
Installation uses the magnet’s existing fill port. Once the loop is closed, refill schedules and helium transfers come off the weekly list.
More uptime, lower quench risk
With no refill stops, the magnet stays available for measurement. A bath that is not allowed to fall also reduces the chance of a quench from a low helium level.
Continuous duty
The reliquefier is meant to run all day, on its own. The pulse tube carries a parts warranty of three years or 12,000 hours, whichever comes first.
