20–30 K class
Used where hydrogen must be liquefied, a fusion magnet needs a cold bus, or a high-temperature superconductor has to stay near 20 K. The AL630 is the largest in this class: 100 W at 20 K.

Cryocoolers
Closed-cycle coolers for the 20–80 K range. They condense hydrogen, nitrogen, and argon with published capacities from 18 W to 600 W. They are separate from the pulse tubes used on H-gate dilution frames.

Used where hydrogen must be liquefied, a fusion magnet needs a cold bus, or a high-temperature superconductor has to stay near 20 K. The AL630 is the largest in this class: 100 W at 20 K.
Used to condense nitrogen or argon and to hold larger heat loads, including power leads and scintillator detectors. The AL600 is the largest: 600 W at 80 K.
Mean time between maintenance is 10,000 hours. The warranty is 3 years or 8,000 hours, whichever comes first. Most service is done at the installed site.
The cold head can sit vertical, horizontal, or at an angle. Capacity does not depend on which way it points.

A cold head can be built with the interface the apparatus needs. The usual additions are below. Parts and adsorbers for the compressor are handled as a service item.
Pulse tubes used on the dilution frames are listed on the cryocoolers page.
